How Wireless Technology Is Changing The World
Wireless technology is changing the world as we know it. There is one router in my house. Through that router, everything I own is connected to the internet.
I have three gaming consoles (two Xbox360s, and a Nintendo Wii) and all connect, wireless, to the internet. Two laptop computers, an e-reader and a desktop all connect, wireless, to the internet. And that’s just in my house.
Other households have tablets, and smart phones that connect, through wireless technology, to the internet.
If I visit the local park, I can stay connected the whole time, thanks to wireless technology. Wireless technology is enabling us to be a more mobile society. Whether that is to our detriment, or not, is up to the individual user. As a society that is more connected globally, and more connected to our work, are we missing out on connecting to others closer to home? Do our social and family lives suffer, in part, because of wireless technology?
Being constantly connected means that there is no end to the work day anymore, for many in our society. As work time cuts further and further into our free time, something has to give. Oftentimes it is our friends and family who suffer. And ultimately, when they suffer, we suffer.
Wireless technology is changing the world we live. Whether that change is for the better, or for the worse, depends on us as individuals.
